  1. Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college.
What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

Going to college can be one of the most difficult periods in your life. You need to know the way how to get through it. If my friend has just entered to college, I will give him three advices about how to cope with the stress of college: to see how the situation really is, the way to get rid of severe.

First of all, I’ll give him an advice to see how situation is, what really is happening, because it is very important to not overreact and remain calm in situation such as, surprise quizzes, or an audience presentation. It is also useful to have an optimistic attitude. If he feels that he can do it, at least he will do his best. Many people have failed just because they hesitated and doubted in their own abilities.

Second of all, the way to get rid of severe. All men have a feeling. No one can stand under pressure all the time, so we need to relax sometimes and somehow. One of the most useful suggestions to get rid of severe is to exercise. I will tell my friend to go sporting in order to reduce the stress. There is many way else such as, clubbing and sleeping. These will clear out his mind from the toughness from college.

Another way to cope with stress in college life is to talk to someone. It does not matter what kind of talking it is going to be, any kind, discussing, chatting, or counseling. Human is a social animal.
We all need someone to be companied with. When we talk or communicate to someone, we can release whatever that stuck in our mind, and reducing anxiety.

In conclusion, no matter how tough my friend’s college life will be, if he follows these three advices of mine. He will be able to cope with any kind of stress. And since he does not have much stress, I am sure that he will be successful.

  4. 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

There are many stressful situations in my life that I ever faced. I always calm down when my mind got losing and focus on the stress happening to me. My body felt senseless then I realized that I need to solve the situation. The way how to cope with is the key which we be able to decrease the stress.

The stressful situation that I never forget is happening in the last summer. I had an opportunity to join Work & Travel programme in USA. I worked as a ride operator in Six Flags. The ride operator is responsible for locking the rides to save all the guests when they sit on.

One day I controlled a ride alone and I had to do many things by myself such as checking the guests’ height, open the door, locking the ride and speaking on microphone as an operator. Unfortunately, I did my all duties but locking the ride! When I perceived that I forgot to lock all the seats, I was frightened and my mind was missing for a while. Suddenly, I almost stopped the ride but while my body couldn’t move, I tried to concentrate the event and think about what to do next. Then I realized that I were not able to press the emergency stop button because the ride had to be stuck, so I gradually took my feet out of the controller and prayed for the guests with my tears. Finally, the machine slowed down and everyone is safe as well.

After I faced the problem, I have known that my body was affected by the stress heavily. I feel numb and my head sometimes can’t figure out. Anyway, I have to control the stress that occurs in my mind and do my best to solve the problem.

It is clear that the stress happens all the time when you are facing a serious situation but you need to face it. No matter how the stress is, you shouldn’t run away from it because the stressful situation will become better afterward.

  6. Writing Assignment 1
Much of this chapter examines the question of whether mental states can influence physical health. What evidence do you find for the idea that the mind does influence the body? Refer to evidence in the chapter and your own knowledge, experience, and beliefs.

One of the evidences that states of mind can affect physical health is explicitly depicted in STRESS AND ILLNESS, the second selection in chapter 1. It says once people working with exceeded job pressures are in stressful conditions, their body usually triggers some kind of threatening reaction called “sickness or illness.” They tend to develop a great deal of hazardous diseases, i.e., stomach ulcers, mostly occurred disease when people are tense or anxious, asthma, headache, colds, and so forth.

Based on my experience, I once used to undergo similar situation. It happened when I was simultaneously preparing for my speech and studying for the final exams last year. At first, everything seemed to go very well and smoothly. I got only two days to prepare for my speech and the final exams are upcoming. Luckily, I was capable of getting those things done in time. Despite good management, the undesirable effect happened to me before I started my speech. I thought I got serious ulcers as I had not eaten much for the past two days and on the day of the contest in the morning I suddenly vomited in blood-like liquid. I was so shocked that I almost black out. Then I realized what I did was pushing myself too hard which lead to stressful mind influencing bad physical heath. Consequently, its impact on my bodily reaction would be disastrous as mentioned.

Another intriguing case on mental states affecting body conditions I have experienced is my high-school friend’s bodily reactions to stress. He is a kind of person who usually thinks too much about things, especially when his friends mock him or don’t talk to him so often, and he will be sulky and start to be stressed. When he is in such stressful condition for a long time, he normally gets migraine headache in an instant causing him not be able to move from his bed. He has to stay in bed for a while till he turns normal, but it takes times. Until now, his physical condition when encountering stress has not seemed better.

The aforementioned situations can be obvious evidences showing that the more people are under long-range stress, the less healthy they become. Thus, people should seriously put more concern about this issue by applying all of the techniques stated in this chapter such as degree of control, predictability, and personal factors to reduce stress rate of people.

Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

I am not a kind of girl who is always being under stress with such a little mistake or an unhappy situation in life. I’m not that strong, but I usually think positively or even if I am feeling stressful, it is just a temporary feeling that takes only a period of time or a day, not more than that. But still, there is a stressful feeling that no matter what I do or how hard I try to forget, it won’t disappear. It keeps taking my breath away every time when I think of it. It’s the feeling that I might have lost someone I love forever. I know that nothing lasts forever but I just couldn’t handle that feeling. I prepare to cope with the expected pain that I’m going to have in the future, but it doesn’t seem to help me decrease my stress at all.

My father has a lung cancer due to his smoking behavior for 4 years. He has been receiving the medical help for 3 years. I’m not going to complain why this thing happens to him, because I know that it’s all because of his bad behavior and there is nothing I could do to help him. The doctor told him that he has a cancer on his birthday, what the best present. I cried so damn hard like the world I knew was breaking down in front of me. I didn’t feel embarrassed among people, actually I didn’t feel a thing. I just couldn’t imagine a life without him, how am I going to live after that? I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat. I swore I could kill a man for him if it killed a cancer inside.

Time passed by, he took many medical helps and he has been getting better. There is still a cancer, it won’t go away. But I found many good things happened through his therapy which is not going to happen if he is healthy. He quitted smoking. He is able to eat every kind of vegetables (he hated vegetables and was a meat-lover). He exercises by running and walking for 2.5 km everyday (he used to be a lazy man). He is caring of his family member’s feelings. He is more patient. I can see that in every bad story, there is a little good thing inside. Sometimes, we say thank you the cancer for making him a better healthy person that he had never been before.

I know that that his condition will never be cured. It will get worse no matter how much you pay; you just can’t buy a life. Someday, he is going to be collapsed and feeling that pain that cuts him deeply every day. But I’m going to make him proud of me. I’m going to make sure that there is nothing he has to worry about. I’m going to take care of every member in my family. I think this is not about how long he has stayed with us, but it is about how he lives and how he really means to us. I still have him always. I guess this is what they called predictable in the text. Anyways, I’m still not ready for that day and I’m sure that it’s going to kill me alive. But someday I’ll get through it. I’ll move on. I’ll show him that I can live. I can take care of our family. I’ll say with my whole heart that I HAVE a father.

    1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

= Many stressful events always happen in my life. They are general situations which everyone ever faces with them. Each person may solve this problem in different ways. Now I want to tell you a stressful situation that always occurs with every high school students. When saying like this, you may know that I am going to talk about “The Admission Examination”.

When talking of this story, I am so proud of myself because I could pass that time although it was so hard. I was always stressful because of it, but I could cope with it. The way, which I used to deal with it, is to think that I would definitely do it. I realized that I should not be obsessive with it, so I always divided my time to be distance from my books such as watching TV, singing, dancing, and so on. Those activities made me relax. Even though this stressful event did not affect my physical health, it made my physical appearance chubby.

To sum up, the admission examination is the cause of the stress, but you can find some ways to cope with it. Then your stress will be destroyed. After that, when the time pass, you will do yourself proud like me.

Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college. What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

Everyone is affected by stress, even students. Entering college can be one of stressful events in students’ lives. If my friend who has just entered to college has stress, I will give him three advices to cope with it : to control body and mind, to take up a hobby, and to maintain relationships with family and friends.

The first way to deal with stress is to control body and mind. There two are excellent skills to control body and mind. The first one is self- relaxation. You have to be relaxed and calm in order to be conscious. Having consciousness can help you know what to do next or how to deal with a problem. Another skill is positive self- talk. That is, you talk to yourself in a positive way. This can make you have more confidence, so stress will decrease.

The second way is to take up a hobby. This way is another way to reduce your stress. It can distract you from stress, also. Taking up a hobby is a very popular way because it is easy to do. Just go to see movie, listen to some music, or find some comic book to read. So, you will be better because you feel relaxed.

The last way to cope with stress is to talk to family and friends. Family is the one who is always beside you. If you have stress or problem, you should talk to your family, your dad, or your mum. That is, you can consult them. Because they are adults, they can give you good advices and way to handle it. So do your friends, you can talk to them to tell about your stress or problem or to express how you feel. These will make you feel relaxed too.

In conclusion, if my friend is influenced by stress, he should control his body and mind, take up a hobby, and talk to his family and friends. Stress will not make him feel uncomfortable if he follow these ways to cope with it.

    Stressful Events
Everyone might have had a hard time at least once in your life. That is very common in daily life. The stressful events can be occurred. We can avoid them due to the fact that we are not the only one who make these situations happens. It also depends on the environment and the people surrounded us. The point is not how serious the situations are but how well you can cope with them. I will tell you some stressful event which I had experienced it and see how I cope with it.

The first events happened when I was graduated from primary school. I had to transfer to another schools due to the condition that my primary school had no secondary section. I was too young for choosing the school myself. I had to do what my parents said or decided. Thus, I had to study at Sarasas Wited Bangbon School. At that time, I was very nervous and curious about meeting new friends. However, I found that making new friends was not that bad. It liked a chance for me to open the new world. I just was the one who nervous about something that doesn’t occur.

The next situation occurred nearby the previous situation. I got the bad news that I was unable to study here at Sarasas Witaed Bangbon when I was about to finish Gr.9. It is because of my bad behavior at school. I didn’t know how I can tell my mother. Thus, I just told my mother without telling her about my bad. She came to school and talked with the director. She knew from the director why I was unable to study. She was very disappointed in me. I was very sad and serious. I made my mom felt sad and got nowhere to study. In the end, I think that there was no use to feel like this and do nothing. I tried my best to brush up the lessons for be able to enter new school. Yes, I can do it. I had transferred to Assumption College Thonburi and promised to my mother that I would be a good boy.

In summary, I think that the way to cope with stress effectively is to have a positive and strong mind. I think that stress have an effect on physical health because if you have healthy mind, the healthy body you gain. You will see that if you have a positive thinking on the stressful events, you will find the way to get out from these events and gain the happiness and successful. However, the first thing you should do is to admit that you can’t avoid it. It happened and we can’t turn back the pendulum. Just face it and don’t give up. Practice your mind as much as possible and you will surpass a hard time easily.

  12. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

    Writing Assignment 1
Nowadays, stressful event can always happen in our lives. Some people may cope with stress effectively, but some may not. Based on what I have learned, how well we cope with stress depends on several factors such as degree of control, stress-resistant personality, and predictability. However, not everybody has those factors to deal with stress satisfyingly when they have to encounter stressful situation as I will mention afterward.
Concerning my experience, my stressful event happened owing to argument between my elder sister and I. We argued seriously because of difference of attitudes. She did not talk to me for a month and did not even look at my face. At that time, I completely was under pressure and stressful and did not know how to deal with the stress causing my bad feelings. I locked myself in my room, talked to no one, and thought how bad the situation was. I sometimes cried and ate too little, physical health followed, consequently. I had an insomnia and headache for many days. Then I realized if I did not deal with the stress, my body would be getting worse. Thus, I started talking to my friends, listening to music, and exercising in order to decreasing the stress. Fortunately, it absolutely worked out, and I gradually handle my problem.
Although stress leads to mental and physical health, I personally think that if there is no any stress in this world, our lives would probably be boring and pointless. No matter how bad situation is, we should think positively and confront it intrepidly. When it ends, and time goes by, you will see that the problem is “just a little inconvenience” (Win, 2004).

  13. Advising New Friends
When people first enter the university, I am sure that they will face many problems. As they have to meet new people, be in the new place, and adapt themselves to new things, it may cause stress. According to the Buddha’s teaching, Ariyasat 4, solving problems correctly is the best way to cope with the stress.
The first thing is to know what the problem is. Some people suddenly start solving problem when the problem occurs. They may go the wrong way. Also, they may have to start over again and that is wasting time. Knowing the real problem makes solving problem a lot easier. For example, you have to turn in the assignment tomorrow and now you feel stressful. First of all, think why you feel so stressful. Is it because you are not sure that you can finish your assignment by tomorrow? If it is, try next step.
Next is to know what cause the problem. Knowing the cause makes you solve problem correctly. You may recognize many different causes but you need to think of what really cause the problem. For example, you are trying to finish your assignment which is due tomorrow. First, you should think that it is because the teacher assigns you too many works or because you didn’t start until the last minute.
The other thing is to recognize the way to solve problem. There are many ways to solve problem but you should choose the way that fit you the most like when you try to solve Mathematic questions there are many different way to solve them but you may want the easiest way. According to the cause that I have shown you above, if it was because you have not start your work until the last minute, why do not you try to do your best for this time and start doing your work earlier for next time so that you will have more time to finish and get away from the stress.
All in all, there are many ways to get away from the stress but do not forget to choose the way that fit you the most. Also, that way should work effectively. Moreover, it would be better to prepare for anything because we do not know what will happen in the future. This way, you will have less stress when something unexpected happen. It is absolutely better than finding the way to cope with the stress later.

Much of this chapter examines the question of whether mental states can influence physical health. What evidence do you find for the idea that the mind does influence the body? Refer to evidence in the chapter and your own knowledge, experience, and beliefs.

I think no one can be happy or laugh all the time. You might have
at least two or three times a week that you totally feel bad or have some stress. Stress is the stimulus which affects both directly and indirectly our physical and mental strength. According to the chapter 1, the influence of mind over body, there are several cases that show how the stress can affect on humans’ health. I think the first evidence which is about two lawyers who have to complete their works is the obviously stressful situation that mental states have effect on body and we can see this situation in our daily life. There are two similar kinds of effect between the first lawyer and me: having illness and not doing work well.
The first similar effect between me and the first lawyer is the illnesses .Throughout the story, stress has a lot of influence on the first lawyer’s health. Because of thinking a lot, being anxious and frightened, she sometimes has headaches and stomach upsets, which are the symptoms from mental states. Similarly, I’m the one who has many experiences about stress. I’m always worried about most everything which sometimes it has not happened yet. I first feel bad or annoyed with everything around me then I get stress. After having stress, I will feel headaches all day, or, sometimes, when I totally get headaches, I will vomit
Besides, when I have stress, I can’t do anything well like the first lawyer. According to the story, she can produce the report, but it is not good enough. Moreover, she doesn’t feel happy at all. Likewise, I once worried about the examination and I couldn’t sleep at the night before the exam day. Because of not getting enough sleep, I couldn’t do the exam well. Moreover, it made me want to cry everytime.
All in all, having stress totally affects on both your mind and body. If you have a lot of stress, you will have bad moods all day. Moreover, your bad moods will affect on your health, and, sometimes, you will be sick easily.

  16. 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

Nowadays we always face with stress because of our activities in daily life. The degree of stress depends on the situation and many factors, internal and external. For me, I’m usually being under a lot of stress. Normally my stress signs are sweat on hands, slow process of thinking and sometime my mind went blank. But most of them can be ease in a short period of time. Although many of stressful events can be cure easily, there is also a tough one.

Once I did face with a seriously stressful event. Last three years during the entrance exam period, I felt really worried and depressed; I didn’t know what I want to be or where I want to study. That is where the stress begins. At that time, the stress haunted me and I could see no way out. I experienced severe headache and pain in my stomach. Moreover, I started to throw up every after meal and every time I started reading book. So, I decided to do something to get rid of the stress because everyone in my family worried about me and they thought that I was sick. I tried to do many things, slept early and ate nutritious food, but it couldn’t help me very well. My mother told me to meditate so that my mind would be peaceful so I started to meditate and to be optimistic. Three weeks after that I got better and I could start reading books again.

In conclusion, every stress can be cure because stress isn’t illness but it come from your thought. So, you need to be calm and be optimistic to defeat the stress.

Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

As we know that stress is the huge problem for many people to overcome. Some people can overcome but some are not. The big problem for my life is always involving with thinking too much. I have to confess that I am a little bit nervous about doing mistake from the past. I always blame myself why I did this and that. So that, I often being stress because my mind have thought about it. I am going to tell about my haircut recently.

One day, I thought about my hair is thicker than usual. So, I decided to find the barbershop. When I came in, I told barber that I just wanted to trim my hair and made it not thin. While he trimmed my hair, I noticed that he did it more than I told him. But I didn’t tell him to stop because I was not sure what he was doing. Then I kept reading a magazine. When it finished I felt that something was wrong. I felt my hair was slightly gone and completely shaven. After that, I came home and depressed how my hair was. I did sad and my mind was completely down. I did not want to do anything. I just thought that my hair would be the same. That night I hardly to sleep because I thought about it over and over again, I decided to talk with my mother. My mother suggested that I should forgot and fixed it by trim as simply straight. Moreover, I asked an advice from my friends. They told me that my hair would be the same and found the activity to do for keeping me out of the stress. After I can face with terrible situation, I feel more relieve and can get back to my real life. I have to not think too much also I can always ask the suggestion from my family and friends. The most important thing is to be more courage to talk if something was wrong.

From those reasons, Stress easily harm to everyone at anytime. You have to faithful with yourself which you have to take every mistake as a lesson to teach you. Your family and friends are always giving you a good advice. Nobody is perfect. Everyone can do wrong. Just think that the stress is our friend. If it occurs, you need to confront it anyway.

  20. Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college.
What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?
College is one of the places that are full of stress. Organization so important for the way of your life and of your learn. It can help you reduce the stress a lot. For my friend who has just entered college, I have some advice to cope with the stress in the college.
First, I will give an advice about finding new friends. You should choose your friend very carefully, it so important for you. Good friend is your luck and bad friend is your bad luck. Why I say that? It is because in the fact situation, many bad things that you got are often happen from your friend’s persuasion. On the other hand, good friends will help you in many things in the right way and they can relax your feeling and your stress. To cope with the stress, good friend is your choice.
Second, I will give an advice about learning. Many things in college are different from high school. For example, subject. Lecture is important role in college more than in high school, and for someone who practice not so much will meet the problem and make them stress. To cope it, when you less lecture, you can ask friend to borrow the lecture and copy it.
Last, your life in college. Study hard is good thing but it will easy to make you stress. Finding some club or activities to do will help you relax after you finished study in each day. The sound of laughing and doing in fun activities will cope your stress a lot.
In short, new friend is important role in college, choosing carefully, and don’t be serious in learning there are many way to relax it if you cannot find some way, may be club or activities will be your choice.

  22. 3. Much of this chapter examines the question of whether mental states can influence physical health. What evidence do you find for the idea that mind does influence the body? Refer to evidence in chapter and your own knowledge, experience, and beliefs.

When people are stress, their minds work very hard. Some work effectively to find the best way to deal with stress, some are not, and some work to find the way to escape not to accept. Anyhow, if your mind is strongly enough to control the stressful situation, it is your luck. But if it is not your luck, it will be many following problems that appear outside and inside your body.

One interesting quote in the chapter is what the Greek philosopher declared, “We are not disturb by things, but our opinions about things”. In fact, there is also Thai idiom which is quite similarly the same meaning as above, it sounds like “Mind is a master and body is a slave”. In stressful events, we can infer from the idioms that things can become stressful or not is depend on how we think and valuate them. So, if you can control your mind, you will be able to control your body.

Stress causes serious problems to your nervous system. In biological study, when your mental state is working hard to cope with stress, your sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system cannot work properly. Sympathetic nervous system is the system of energy using while the another one is the system of energy saving. These systems play an importance role to control the body’s function. It means that if you are stress and these systems work in low quality, your body will be harmful in various ways, such as, over producing hormones, stopping the metabolism, lacking of minerals, and even destroying your organs.

Moreover, mental state is obviously linked to moods. This is my own observation from my experiences. It usually happened when I did too much brainstorming, especially during the examinations. I was always sick in the days of reading and revising before exam began. I have got a cold, headaches, and allergy symptom rising. Furthermore, my eating habit was changed. I ate too much snacks than usual when I was reading. Nevertheless, I couldn’t eat anything in exams days. Apart from those changing, I was bad-tempered and had unstable moods as well.

All in all, our negative opinions in stressful situations can make our minds work harder and lead to the changing of habits and moods and cause nervous problems. Those will damage the physical health. Letting stress influences over our minds is not a good choice, but it is probably disastrous. Thereby, controlling ourselves and don’t be nervous when facing with stress are the beneficial ways to protect your body and become healthy.

  23. 3. Much of this chapter examines the question of whether mental states can influence physical health. What evidence do you find for the idea that the mind does influence the body? Refer to evidence in the chapter and your own knowledge, experience, and beliefs.

In our daily life, we usually have to encounter stress without well preparation. That effect on work’s efficiency. According to the passage in the book, the surprising quiz makes students more upset than the scheduled quiz which they can have time to prepare for. As the result, their scores might not good as it should be. Also, the anxious lawyer, who finds the situation extremely serious, feels greatly anxiety, experiences an illness and has done a bad work. Unlike the excited lawyer, she sees it as a challenge and finally finishes her perfect work without any illness. These can refer that stresses not only influence on mental health but also physical health. Moreover, researchers have found that people who experience a great deal of stress in their daily lives are more likely to get sick. Stresses can produce the disease against the effectiveness of the body’s immune system. For example, they cause a common cold, migraine headaches, ulcers, arthritis, and even cancer.

About my experience, I always face with the stress in studying, especially whenever I have to write an essay! I am usually anxious about my bad grammar. Nevertheless, I cannot do anything but let it go and keep doing my best. Once I was sick because of a headache. At that time, I was a high school student and got a scholarship to be an youth exchange student for one year. That was great news for me but my mom did not think so. She did not allow me to go. That upset me so bad. I had no concentration to study in class and talked to on one in the house. I cried again and again. (I thought that if I had gone aboard, my English would have been better for sure!) I strongly believe that when we have no way to go or do not know what to do, crying can solve it somehow. Finally, I become a Kasetsart University student without studying aboard experience and realized that I might have another chance to go someday.

In conclusion, stresses cause a lot of illness. The mind states do influence physical health. If you have a weak mind, you health will be flopped too. However, it also has many different ways to cope with the stress. You can able to reduce it easily by controlling over a stressful, preparing yourself when it happens to you suddenly and trying to be an optimistic person. These can use in a daily life really. Choose the technique that is convenient for you. Therefore, whenever you have to face it somehow, do not be afraid. Get ready and beat it up!

Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

Everybody feels stressful when you must face pressured situations. The behavior of each other is different based on situations and coping with stress. However, everyone has the way to deal with stress by themselves.
The most stressful event in my life is Admission Examination because it is the important exam for students. My parent told me they expected me to get good score and they wanted me learn at Faculty of Accounting. Their expectation made me read many mathematic texts like crazy and I knew mathematic is difficult subject for me, so I did many exercises for per day. Reading mathematic text made me feel stressful because it is the subject I hate, when I read it I felt headache but I have to do. I felt tried and wanted to sleep. One day, I headache, vomit, and stomachache. Then I went to see the doctor. He told me that I had the stomach ulcers. At the moment, I thought I should tell my parent that I cannot learn about accounting and I cannot stand to read mathematic anymore! They understood me. So I did not read many texts and I started to relax immediately. I did not read many texts in per day ( because i don't want to admit faculty about mathematic )and I spend time for watching Japanese animation and Korean drama for my rest.
All in all, facing stress is the best of way that should to do when feel stressful and trying to find a way to solve the problems.

  26. In this age, entering colleges has become highly competitive and students can be pressured too much from families to get into college leading to stressed on students. If my friend is about to enter college, I will advise her three methods to deal with her stress: positive thinking, meditation and relaxation.

The first method is positive thinking. According to Chapter 1 “The Influence of Mind over Body”, it said stress is caused not so much by events themselves as by the ways in which people perceive and react to events. I think it is good for her to cheer herself up in order to reduce stress. She can gain confidence and release stress at the same time by telling herself that she can do it repeatedly. Another way is to change pressure into a strong drive. If people around her keep pressuring my friend and she starts to feel stressed with those words, I would suggest her to see it as a challenge, not a threat, and try to do her best.

The second method I recommend is meditation. Meditation can help her focus on an activity and quiet her mind in the present moment which could lead to the reduction of stress. She will have more consciousness which helps her maintain control, ignore distractions and stay calm when feeling stressful. She can figure a way out better and more consciously.

The last one is relaxation. Although entering college is pretty serious issue, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t have fun and feel relaxed. Thus, if my friend is really stress out about entering college. I will advise her to take a rest or go out and have some fun or just take some hobbies. There are many things to do for releasing stress, for example, watching movies which is not only entertaining, but also give some good phrases for English language, working out which could wake up her body and brain and refresh her mind after the hard work, and it can reduce stress effectively. Besides, talking with friends is another way for reducing stress. The topic can be about the stress she is facing now or just trivial matters. No matter what the topic is, it will decrease stress and comfort her.

In conclusion, stress is not actually caused by serious events but the ways people perceive and respond to the events instead. Consequently, if my friend gets stressed from getting into college, I will suggest my friend to follow these three methods to cope with stress which include positive thinking, meditation and relaxation. I hope the stress will reduce and she will feel more comfortable after taking my advices.

  27. 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

Most people may face stressful situations in their life and they always deal the situation in many wrong ways, even me. One of my stressful situations is that when I have got to do a speech at a secondary school. It was my school’s turn to road show and it was suddenly speech that I didn’t prepare for. So, I got a little bit nerved, stomach aches and the importance thing was that I didn’t know what to say. Luckily, my friends went on stage in place of me. Another stressful situation is when quarrel happened between my friends and I was like a middleman. It was under pressure for me that they weren’t talk to each other while we had gone out to do any activities. It was very frustrated that we all went out together without noise, if I didn’t say something. And it was my guilty if I didn’t help them reconcile, so I have to listen their problems. Although it was not my problem, I was also under pressure and unhappy to see them acted such a stranger to each other.

Coping with stressful situation is the thing I often deal with. Many times I realized I was under pressure that I couldn’t manage it in a correct way. Although I could control my action, it seemed that I couldn’t control my mind to think positive. As I know well that thinking positive is the good skill to cope the stress but it hard to do. Unfortunate, the stress causes me a variety of illness such as ulcers, migraine headaches and constipation that I have been facing nowadays. But when I learned how to cope with stress from the lesson, it encouraged me to have more effort to face the stress in a good way.

To summarize, stress is our body's response. A little stress is a good thing, but too much can causes harmful for your health. Thus, the way to confront the stress is that you should have a strong mind and always be a positive person. Because everything is depends on mind, if it strong enough, there are nothing can lead you to be under pressure.

    2. Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college. What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

Stress of college can happen to every student especially for the freshman. Changing from high school to college can be difficult and stressful time because it is the first time that you have to be on your own in a new environment. Therefore, if my friend just entered college, I will suggest these two suggestions to help her cope with the stress of college.

The first suggestion that I will tell her is to remember that college life is very different from high school life. She has to handle all the things by herself. No one will control it accept her. The best way to organize things is to create schedule. It will help her to plan work time and relax time. In college, she may feel that she has more free time than high school, so it is important to take note and organize things to do to remind what she have to do. If she can allocate time well, it can reduce her stress too.

Another suggestion that I will tell my friend is do not push herself too much when she feels stressful. It is okay to relax sometime. In college, there are a lot of activities that she can do to relax herself. Exercise is a good choice. For example, she can go jogging, swimming or playing badminton with her friends. Exercise will help her improve her mood, and it can reduce her anxiety.

To summarize, stress is a normal part of life, It happens to everyone. The important thing is how well my friend can handle it. In the college, if she can deal with the stress of college and adjust herself to the new environment quickly, she will live in the college happily and her college life will be one of the most memorable times for her.

  29. 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

Everybody had used to face and passed the hard situation in their life. This kind of situation always causes the stress to our physical and mental health. It depends on who could pass it and which way that they cope with the stress. I always encounter the difficult situation and my stress reaction are shaking and losing the focus. This is the one of stressful situation that I never forget.

It happened in the last summer, when I did my first job to be an event organizer. My first work was a seminar of Tourism Authority of Thailand. My colleague and I had planned about the schedule and what we have to do in seminar day. My duty was to arranged the stage and took care of seminar guest.
I couldn’t sleep in the night before the seminar day because I felt nervous to do my first job. I woke up early in the morning, felt very nervous and had the anorexia. I went to the seminar ahead of schedule and repeated what I have to do.

I used to do kind of this work in the school and university but this was a real one for me. I was an employee that they hired to do this job, so it made me serious and lose my confident. My team had to arrange the stage and prepare the scripts for the lecturer. The seminar started at 10.00, but we still set the stage when the guests entered the hall. The lecturer tried to persuade the guests to be patient and wait us for setting up the stage. In that moment, we hurriedly set the tableau curtain. My hands were shaking and soaked with my sweat. My supervisor came to tell me to be calm and leisurely did our work until it done.

After the seminar, he told us that we done a good job and didn’t worry about the mistakes. He added that we were an inturn, it certain to make a mistake in our first job. However, I think that I have to control my mind when the stress occurs. Stress has an effect to my health and my ability to do my work as well. The best way that I used to cope with stress is to think positively and focus on what I’m doing. I won’t let the stress makes a trouble to my job and my health. No matter how hard of the situation is, we should deliberately confront it because the stressful situation won’t disappear if you try to avoid it.

  30. 2. Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college.
What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

Spending time in the college is the period of time that almost people have to face. From my experience, I know that being a college student is not easy. The most normal thing everyone does. When you become a college freshman, you are entering a world that is bigger, tougher, and much more difficult to adjust yourself. And if my new friend at college is under any stress of college, maybe about studying, finding new friends, and so on, here are some suggestions to reduce these stresses.

First is to understand and accept the state of being stressful. Actually, no one can avoid it. You should find out that what bothers you and then you can deal with it from its root. If you cannot do it, you should do the next step. It is to find any activities that can distract your concentrate from those messy situations. You can listen to music, read comic books, chat with your friends, and even sleep. It helps you too much because you will feel more relax when you do what you love to do. Another way is to write a diary. Writing is a great release no matter what your writing skills are. It allows you to blurt out all your feelings and thoughts and get them off your mind.

In short, stress is a common condition everyone faces. Stress is not bad at all. Small amount of it can give us the energy to try harder and keeps us alert, but large amount of it can lead us to have health problems such as headache, sleep disorder, depression, anxiety, and mental health. Ways to reduce your stress is multiple. It depends on which way suits you. Find and try it. Next time, you will learn to manage stress more successfully!

Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college. What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

When you have just entered the new university, your stress would be eventually built up. Many of the new students quit, change the place to study in, or a few even commit suicide at the same state you are in. The university stresses come from various sources, and attack you in various ways, but don’t worry. I’ve come up with the way to separate the sources of stress in to two major sources, and I even know the way to cope with it.

The first source of stress is from studying. You may find some subjects are too hard to deal with, and the assignments are too many, moreover, the deadly examinations are waiting for you. However, you don’t have to worry about that. You could change the stress and hardship in to excitement and challenges. Try to imagine that each semester is just a role-playing video game. You are the hero, who have to train your skills and combat abilities by studying. Almost everyday, you will have to battle with your enemies, which really is home works, to improve yourself even more. At the end of the episode, you will have to fight the last boss, examinations. It will be the decisive battle, which you have to use all of your abilities, everything you have learned so far, to defeat your enemy. If you got the stress from assignments, just try to enjoy it, and do it in your own way as much as you can. For example, try to put your ideal and the things you like in to your assignment.
If it’s still not work, just do it in the most convenient way. Don’t let the result bother you, because you’re doing your best to make it enjoyable.

The second source is from the new people you have to meet and working with. It’s natural to feel unnatural when you have to spend more than half of your time each day with the people you didn’t know before, but don’t worry there is some methods that will eliminate the stress while you have to face such situation. Firstly, don’t be shy. You have to be a friendly and funny. Try to have a small talk with everyone in your major when you have a chance to do so. Even if you’re not used to did something like that, just try hard, and people will be able to understand. If it’s still not work, don’t worry, just find a club to join. If there’s not a club you like in KU then, you may try to gather people who have the same interest or same hobby as you, and try to build your own new activities group with them.
This way, you could befriend with people in your club (or the people whom you were gathered) instead of your classmate. Secondly, always being an obedient person. Listen to other peoples’ opinions, obey your teacher, and respect your senior, but remember, always be yourself. If you really believe that doing anything is wrong or you really can’t do it, don’t do it. Thirdly, you have to be positive. Don’t let something small disturb your relationship with others. Remember these phrase and wisdoms : Retaliation is the reason for our destruction, Suspicion is the reason for our destruction, forgiving is divine, and “We are not disturbed by things, but our opinions about things.” (Epicetus).

In short, the stresses come to every new university students, because they have to face with the harder lesson, and they have to befriends with the peoples whom they didn’t know. This could be solved by imagine that you’re playing video game instead of studying to turn the stress in to excitement, and by being brave, funny, friendly, and positively. If you could do all of this, I’m sure KU will be like another amusement park for you.

  32. . Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

The stress is one thing that people have to face in their life. And the way that people cope with the stress is different, so this is my case that I want to share.

The stressful in my life such as when I have an exam or when I can't do homework. Sometimes, when I try to compose the song, it might have a little bit stressful.Because when I try to think over and over and I have no idea or I don't know how to handle with the problem, I will be so serious.

I think that I'm the one who cope with the stress well. Normally,I'm not serios about all the thing and usaully think positive. So, when the troubles come I try to think positive and tell myself that I can do it although it won't be easy but I can trough it and everything's gonna be alright.

Anothey way that I use to cope with the stress is to take up a hobby. When I'm stressful I like to find something to do such as do a knitting, playing Ukulele or playing games. It can help me feel better and forget the stressful.

In conclusion, the stress can be controlled by yourself, just think positive and find something relaxed to do and you will enjoy your happy life without stress.

  33. 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

Everyday life I always face the many problems and stresses because of many factos. Both of me and other people can cause stress. To me, I am often being under many stress becuse I will alway thinking too much in every topic not except a little point and everything must be expectedly. However, the stressful can be happened to anyone not only me, so we can cope and deal with it.

In the past, this stressful event happened when I was graduated from Mathayom 3. I passed the exam in Mathayom 4 at my dream school, Suankularb Witthayalai school, but my score is not to much for me to get a Science-Math program. It just Math-Arts program but I would like to learn in Science-Math program. At that time, the stress makes me nervous and ulcers for a week. Later, I consult with my parents about my future and I had decided to learn at the begining school, Taweethapisek. I have to force my mind to do it but my stress still settle in my head. Then, my mother told me to accept and brought me to visit the doctor in order to get well. Finally, I could pass that time and I would be fresh and healthy again.

To sum up, deciding the difficult ones is one of the stress causes, but you can find good ways to cope with it. Any stress can be cure because stress is not like an illness . So, you need to be control, accept and positive thinking to get rid off stress.

  34. Imagine a friend of yours has either just entered college or is about to enter college. What advice would you give your friend to help him or her cope with the stress of college?

Going to college is one of the toughest challenges in our life. If my friend is about to enter college, i will suggest them to something that seem very ordinary but it can reduce the stresses and it was proved by me.

Firstly, the simplest thing that you can do when you got stressed is SLEEPING. In the situation like this some people used their time to study the lesson but if you continually reading without a rest. I suggest you to have ones, because scientists have shown numerous ways which sleep is related to memory. So if you tried or bored with reading, it would be better to take a nap and forgot everything that you are doing then get back on track.

Secondly, when we feel down or stressed, we look for things that make us feel good. EXERCISING is one of the most interesting activities. Although it seem wasted time but it is a good thing to do when you got stressed, depressed or bored because when we exercising the adrenaline are pumping and it makes you feel more alert. Though exercise can makes us tried but it worth, trust me

Last but not least is ENJOYING, when you feel stress levels rising, focus on something positive. Take time to get up and look out of the window, look for something natural to captive your imagination, for example the green trees, a nearby river, or the blue sky and spend a little time to reflect on your current situation.

Although, S.E.E. (SLEEPING, EXECESING, ENJOYING) is a very simple thing to do but you can’t imagine how it worth for me to get through the serious situation so if you are in the situation like these or any kind of problems, I hope S.E.E. will brought your big smile be on your faces again. :)

    CHAPTER 1 Writing assignment
Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

For many people, stress is so commonplace that it has become a way of life. I am sure that everybody in the world has ever had a stressful situation, but each person has the different stressful events in their life because stress depends on subjective appraisal, individual judgment, like learning in the reading class. For me, most stressful events in my life are involved with studying: getting a lot of assignments, arrival of examination, and speaking in front of the class.
When my happy time like school holidays finishes, I often get a lot of assignments from several subjects in limited time. Then my brain will automatically raise the stress at once because I will think how I can finish my all assignments in that little time. Moreover, when the examination period arrives, I will be more stressful and nervous about how I can read all books and how I can do it or not when I have to be in the real class of examination. Last of all, speaking in front of the class is the worst for me because my friends and teacher in front of the class will shatter my confidence. As a result, all of those serious situations always give me many unusual symptoms which are not only physical health but also emotional health--inability to concentrate, poor judgment, anxious or racing thoughts, changing mood rapidly, stomachache, headache, and so on. Sometimes, the stress would make me so depressed and nervous until I could not do anything. In contrast, I would turn the stress to stimulate me to be more enthusiastic and alert for doing my assignments on time, arranging time to read books for examination suitably, and practicing my speaking skill. Also, I will take a break to get a little exercise and clear my head. Although the stress will stimulate me to complete my target on time, but it still causes me to be sleepless, exhausted, and dizzy as well.
To conclude, I think everything always has two sides: both good side and bad side, it depends on your choices. Like this case, if we know how to cope with the stress suitably, I think it will turn to be useful for us.

    Writing assignment for Chapter 1
    1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?
Nowadays, people have to confront with stressful situations. Coping with a stress depends on an individual person who has ability to control and resist the stress, but it is not everybody who can cope well with the stress. The stress from study or work has an effect on physical health (illness).
For me, examinations cause psychological stress while illnesses cause physical stress. All kinds of examination can make me feel stressful from small quizzes in the class, midterm exams and final exams to entrance exams. The physical effects that it causes are for example, feeling dizzy and having a headache. Sometimes I eat a lot, and look very stressful. Moreover, it makes me feel confused.
Illnesses that give me the physical stress are such as influenza, sore throat and hemorrhagic fever. This kind of stress makes me feel depressed, and sometime I do not want to talk to anyone. When I suffered from hemorrhagic fever, I did not want to meet anyone, did not want to eat and did not feel to do anything.
In my opinion, I can cope well with a stress because I decided to face with the stress instead of avoiding a stress by doing nothing. When I feel stressed, I will do some relaxing activities. For example, I will listen to pop music and bossa nova music. I will meditate about ten minutes and I will sleep enough for relaxing my brain. If I have a fresh brain, I will have an idea to cope with those stresses.
I will find out causes of stress and cope with stresses by facing with them. For example, when a midterm examination arrives, I will know a schedule examination before, so I can prepare by reading books and doing exercise for reducing stress. I believe drinking alcohol and smoking can’t help you to cope with stress, but they only makes you forget some stress temporarily and you will have effect on health problem after that.
Actually, people have to confront with the stress because every stress has many ways to cope with. Knowledge and experience will help you to cope well with stress.

    Assignment 1
The number of stressful people in present social is growing up and there are affection on them, some of them get a physical health or psychological problems ,and I believe stress can happen to everyone. It can happen to children or adult ; moreover : Stress can happened every time .It can make various effects ,but people can still find the way to cope with stress .There are several ways to encounter and control the stress, but it usually depends on age and education of the person.
First of all, I used to encounter with the several levels of stress and I went through it well because of my age. I believe that the level of age can help people to encounter and control the stress well. The level of age can indicated that how much experiences you have. For example, my brother and I can cope with stress in different ways. My brother saw my problems was a little problem for him ,and he can find many ways to solve my problems such as argument with my mother ,or finding my lost object .On the other hand, I used to get stress when I broke glass ,but when I grew up I saw that it very easy and it does not give me stress.
Another way to cope with stress depends on the education because when you have a well-education, you can manage and find the best way for solving the problem. For example, I used to get hit by the other driver. In that case, I thought I’m not wrong because he broke a driving rule. First time when it happened I got so much stress when the car hit me, but after that I found that I have a driving insurance, so I came up with the idea that I should call the insurance people. I and other driver didn’t argue and we’re not stress because we can find the way to solve the problem. I believe I didn’t get stress and can deal with the problem because I have enough education.
To sum up, when I was young, the stress used to affect on my physical health, but it isn’t too much because my family teach me how to cope with stress. When I grew up I found that I can manage my stress because of my experiences and education. As a result, the people who are aging they usually deal with problems better than the younger people. Consequently, Thai older people usually said “The older can deal with the problems than the teenager” because the older have more experiences and education .

  38. 3. Much of this chapter examines the question of whether mental states can influence physical health. What evidence do you find for the idea that the mind does influence the body? Refer to evidence in the chapter and your own knowledge, experience, and beliefs.

Many people may question whether mental states can influence physical health. I also doubt in it. Then most people try to find the answer for this question. Nowadays, there are a lot of evidences which can prove that the mind does influence the body. Now, I will give you three clearly evidences.

The first evidence from the book “Academic Encounters Human Behavior,” is that people has become ill and sick causing by stress. According to “stress and illness” essay, the author talks about illness that cause by stress. If stress comes in people’s heart, the body will respond in both good and bad ways. Most people who are in stressful situation will end up with many diseases from colds to cancers and other diseases such as arthritis, asthma, migraine headaches, and ulcers.

The second evidence is the story about the rats, a guinea pig, that are shocked in well-known experiment. One rat has been given the degree of control and the other has been got nothing. While they are shocking, the rat who has degree of control can help itself and its partner. They both died and they have ulcers in their stomach. We discover that the rat who has degree of control has less ulcers than his friend.

The final evidence is from my experience. I also have been in very stressful time. It is occur when I graduated from high school. I have to participate in the admission test (O-net and A-net) for getting in the universities. I prepared for the test for two months. I read a book and practiced a lot of exercises every day. In that time, I just thought that I have to do everything that will help me to get into a university so I forgot my health. I sleep very late every night. One day, I began throw up so my mother bring me to see a doctor. The doctor said that I was too serious and stressful so it effected to my digestive system.

To sum up, these three evidences can clearly answer the question whether the mind does influence the body. Each evidence show that illness and diseases actually cause by the stress that happen in our mind.

According to psychologist, all men, even a child, have suffered from stresses. There is only the departed free from these mental pressures. In my point of view, as a student, I cannot run away from facing stressful situation. I have to accept it because it is crucial for me to learn and cope with it. Apart from the techniques in the book, I have tried adapting the Lord Buddha’s method of solving the stresses – the four stages of truths (อริยสัจ 4) – which works effectively and splendidly on dealing with tensions.
The problem or stress with which I am now facing is that I did not get a good grade last semester and I want to improve it. Consequently, I apply the method of the four stages of truths -- what is the stress, what could cause the stress, what would be the best solution to the stress, and what would be happen when the stress relieved -- which is the practical guideline for contending with a problem or stressful situation. To illustrate, my stress is the low grade (the first stage). What could cause the stress is that I paid no attention to my studies (the second stage). And the easy and possible solution to my problem is that I should concentrate on my reading and spend more time on my studies (the third stage). Finally, what would happen is that my grade would be better.
On account of this method, my physical health is not affected by the stress because I always think and talk positively to myself. And such method describes the processes of how to cope with the stress clearly and systematically. All I have to do is to follow the method step by step.
The method which I have mentioned previously works well and wonderfully for me and it helps me cope with most of my stresses.

    Number2.

If I have friend who will be study at the same college like me,I will be so happy because he or she will be happy to have me to be his or her advice. First of all, I have to find a real reason that why he or she so stress. Imagine that she is the girl. I will talk to her nice and kind, see that what is her problem and how level of her stress. Next, its time to help her find the right way to cover with the stress. Talk to her a lot will help her very much. Then, find some hobby for her. Hobby that you like will help you cover with stress, such as, singing , playing game , drawing ,dancing etc. When you do what ever you like, you will forgot everything that can make you got any stress. Finally, you have to tell her about how to leave with happiness.Maybe you have to let her find a new friend, so that she can have connection in the society. Thus she will not have many hard time anymore . In my view, stress can happen easy, but if you can deal with it by using my idea or even yours. It will be so easy to cover with all stress that comes to your life..

Most of people in this world lack of coping with stress. Some may be anxious about jobs, some may be worried about family's happiness or anything they meet everyday. There are a few of people that can get rid of that stresses because it is hard to control when you feel like you have no way to go. The important point is which means you can cope with stress. Absolutely, I am the one who have problems about dealing with stress as well and I have my own means too. I believe that everyone faces with many stresses in a lifetime. For me, it happens again and again. I couldn't forget the day that I was a school representative for English speech contest. Unfortunately, I had time to practice my script just three days. As a result, I was so stressful. I feared that I couldn't remember and made a speech fluently every words in script. However, I decided to confront with stress. I changed my fear to confidence and practiced every time when I was free from study or household. Moreover, the principle allowed me to practice in front of a stage at school every morning so, that made me not fear among many people. Accordingly, when the speech contest was coming, I made the speech with confidence and I was the winner at that contest. When people feel that they go to the dead end, they will be stressful. There are many ways for each people to cope with stress. For me, as you see, I choose facing with the fear or my own personality factor to deal with stress. Actually this way is not different from some other people but situations are different for each.I always think that I can do it and practice every day again and again until I can go through it. Stress can cause many disadvantages for your health. Although most of time I could cope with stress, but sometimes there were many problems come in my life at the same time. It made me feel tired. I didn't want to do anything because I knew it would not succeed. Nevertheless, stress has not any effect to my health because I absolutely don't let it control my happy life.
To conclude, stress may come when we don't prepare to cope with but we shouldn't let it come in our life too long. I think stress will comes when we think negative. In contrast, if we think positive, we will not be stressful. Stress can be cured by your attitude. A good attitude will come with a good health.

I am sure that everyone has ever confronted with stress because the stress is one part of our lives. I am the one who have ever met it in several time in my life. It’s like a disaster of me when the stress comes. The stressful event of mine usually happens when I am on examination season.. I will be anxious and worry about it too much. I always get nervous like a crazy one because I am afraid that I will cannot do the test and fail the exam. The ways that I always use to cope with the stress is talking with my parents in the night before the examination day. I just want someone to cheer up me that I can do it or I can fight with it. My parents always talk with me like that and it makes me have a will power to do an exam. Another way is trying to calm myself down from the anxiousness. I usually pray and do meditation before I go to bed to make my mind and my brain clear. Every time when I have to face with the stress, I will get headache and stomach ulcer. It is the worst time for me when my physical health is bad from stress.

Topic : 1. Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with the stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

In my whole life, I was faced with several stressful situations. There were not only predictable events but also unpredictable events also. There was the only one that I still remember precisely until these days. It happened when I was in high school. It was the first time of my life that I had to leave my home to go to the United State as an exchange student. The month before I went to the Land of Freedom, I had been nervous and suffered from stress. I had to finish all my assignments that my teachers gave to me before I go, so I could get the grade of that semester and I would not have to retake the class again which I have to learn with juniors. It was a pressure work that had to be done by the time. I was anxious and depressed and the stress made me could not sleep. I knew exactly that if I still had had a sleep problem as insomnia, it would affect to my physical health and it would be bad for my health also. However, I was still sleepless almost every night. Besides, when I went to school, I always fell sleepy in the class. As a result, I did not understand what the teachers taught. That also made me more stressed. Fortunately, I realized what caused of stress, and the stress was also what I made by myself. I also realized that sometimes it is hard to escape or refuse bad situation, but we can get through it if we try the best we can. After I found out what caused of my stress, I started to choose the best way to respond to it. What I decided to do is to ignore it and let it go immediately. Then I continued doing my assignments. Finally, I could finish all of them. I was so proud with myself. Moreover, teachers gave me the complements. This event is valuable for me because I have passed this stressful situation and I can also cope with stress well.

  45. o Describe some stressful event in your life. Did you cope well with stress? What could you have done differently? Was your physical health affected by this stress?

The most stressful event in my life seems to be when I was a student waiting for the result of entrance examination because it was the experience I would never forget. May 8th, 2009 was the day that I was sitting in front of the computer in order to check the result of entrance examination. I was strongly anxious because the NIETS, National Institute of Educational Testing Service, told us that the results would be announced on their website around 6.00 p.m. While I was surfing the internet around 3.00 p.m., I suddenly saw the advertiser on the sanook.com. They told us that we could check the results through sanook.com and that added me more anxiety. The stress came into me a lot but I tried to keep myself calm by took a long inhale and exhale and it was completely work. While waiting the website loading I picked up a piece of paper in order to hide my computer screen. Unfortunately, my internet connection smoothly worked on that day and I could not hide my screen from my vision. I saw my entrance examination result and that made my heart beat faster and faster because all I saw was an English Section (Special Program) of the Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University. I was so glad because it was the first huge thing that I had done it by myself. This stress did not affect my health because I did not let it make any damages to me. For the question “What could you have done differently?” I think if I could go back to change anything, I would change nothing. The way I cope with stress is effectively work by just calm myself down.
